Ideal CHRISTMAS Gift

family

Want to put a smile on a loved one’s face or hear the laughter ring out from the kiddies on Christmas day. Well the first move is to get it right when choosing their presents. How nice for you to hold an ear to ear grin all because this year you chose the ideal gift for the family. Deciding on what is right for each individual can cause unnecessary stress and worry to the build up to Christmas.

Xmas is a happy/joyous event where we celebrate our lord’s being. Jesus is a very special person in our life, an out of sight lodger in our thoughts and always in our heart who gave us all those close people in our lives.

How many times have you had to return goods that were not the right size/color? How many people thank you for that unwanted gift that they never get to use.

Lets us get into the Christmas spirit today by getting it right. You have enough worry with a shopping list as long as your arm and a credit card bill that you may well be still paying off into the New Year.

Then there’s the slaving over a hot stove, presents have to be wrapped and at the end of this hectic schedule you are expected to smile on December the 25th.

What gift can you give to please every member of the family or lover with a guarantee to put a smile on their face?

It does not take Einstein to figure this out.

Item number 1 on a Christmas list to give is a vacation. This way you the bringer of joy gets to celebrate too.

The Christmas festive season is celebrated all over the world so why not enjoy your Xmas on a beach. Millions travel at this time of year because they find it very cost effective when giving all people close to them a Christmas they will never forget

Guarantees are priceless when they come in the form of a smile. Have you ever seen an unhappy vacation maker?

In some cases parents are taken for granted by the kids and are never given a minute thought all because they are busy opening presents. Well that ends on vacation when the kids smother you with hugs and kisses thanking you for the best Christmas ever.

What do you give the kids on Christmas day abroad? A bucket/spade. What to give your lover? A date for your wedding. Grandparents will just love not having to wrap up for warmth.

It is far cheaper to spend Christmas abroad than stay at home. Recap on your list of Christmas duties.

Shopping/Christmas presents/ decorations/lights to be hung/turkey needs stuffing/ trifle to be made/tree and baubles /wrap presents and on top of all this the worry of having forgotten anything.

Get it right and get away.
The best Christmas gift you can give to your self is the satisfying feeling that you got it right.

Welcome Christmas

Christmas

Christmas is the most mysterious holiday! Christians celebrate it all over the world. It is too special holiday as all the traditions were handled down from our grandparents and parents.

From November nobody forgets that Christmas is coming. Colored lights decorate many town centers and shops and artificial snow painted on shop, cafe windows. In streets and shops, ‘Christmas trees’, real or plastic evergreen ‘conifer’ trees, are also decorated with lights and Christmas ornaments.

Shopping centers become busier. Speaker systems in them play Christmas ‘carols’, the traditional Christmas Christian songs. Very often groups of people sing these carols raising money for charity. By mid-December, most people decorate their houses with Christmas trees, colored lights, make different decorations around the rooms. Some people decorate their trees with apples, nuts, and candles as it was in earlier times.

In many countries, most people send Christmas greeting cards with many wishes to their friends and family, and these cards are hung on the walls of their homes then. Traditional Christmas cards showed religious pictures – Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, or other parts of the Christmas story. Today pictures are often winter pictures, jokes, Father Christmas, or romantic scenes of life in past times.

‘Father Christmas’ (or ‘Santa Claus’) has become the human face of Christmas. In the pictures we can see the old man with long white beard, red coat, and bag of toys. Children are taught that he brings them presents the night before Christmas (or in some countries on December 6th – St. Nicholas’ Day), and many children up to the age of 7 or 8 really believe this is true. The history of Santa Clause begins with a man called Saint Nicholas. He was a Bishop of Myra in Asia Minor (now Turkey) in the 4th century AD. He was very shy, and wanted to give money to poor people without them knowing about it. One day he climbed the roof of a house and dropped a purse of money down the chimney. It landed in the stocking, which a girl had put to dry by the fire! This may explain the belief that Father Christmas comes down the chimney and places gifts in children’s stockings.

For many people it’s too interesting to know: how did Christmas start?

Since about 400 AD Christians have celebrated the birth of Jesus. ‘Christ’ means ‘Messiah’, the title given to Jesus. Unfortunately the real meaning of Christmas is often forgotten. It has become a non-religious holiday! More children believe in Father Christmas, not in Jesus. Christmas Day is a holiday with eating, drinking too much and watching TV and other activities. But the real Christmas story is found in the Christian Bible. After Jesus was born there were some wise men who came to look for Him, from an area which is now in either Iran or Saudi Arabia. Admittedly there were three wise men (or three Kings). The story said they had seen an unusual star in the sky that told them of a birth of a special king. For bringing honor to the child, the brought rich gifts: gold, frankincense (a resin which burns with a beautiful smell) and myrrh (plant oil with a very strong sweet smell). These gifts tell us three key things about Jesus: Gold – a gift fit for a King, Frankincense – burnt in worship of God, Myrrh – a sign of mortal humanness, used to bury the dead. Jesus lived too difficult life. He was and is ‘everyman’ for us all as He came to identify with every racial group.

Christmas cards from different countries often show Mary, Joseph and Jesus in the landscape of that country, and with the racial appearance of that nationality. “No other person has had such an effect on human lives as Jesus. He came back to life again, and millions say they know Him today as a friend and helper in their lives. You owe it to yourself to find out more about Him. Is He who He claimed to be? Can He help us in our lives today? You have nothing to lose! Christmas is the time to stop and think about these important questions”.

Merry Christmas!

Alone for the Holidays

Being alone is a challenge for many people. This challenge may loom especially large during the holidays if you are single or newly divorced and without family around you. Holidays are a time to share love, and many people end up feeling depressed when they do not have people around with whom to share love. If you are in this situation, what can you do to make the holidays joyous rather than depressing?

The key phrase here is SHARE LOVE. Too often people think in terms of getting love rather than giving and sharing their love. They don’t realize that it is the act of giving their love that is so very fulfilling.

Gail had grown up very lonely in an emotionally distant family, with parents who did not freely give their love and relatives who were also cold and distant. She had married an emotionally distant man, and after 7 years of more loneliness, had decided to leave him. This was her first holiday season alone.

Gail decided that she was not going to be alone and lonely again this holiday season. She did some research on service agencies that needed volunteers and discovered a women’s shelter in her area for women and their children who were hiding from physically abusive husbands. The shelter was badly in need of funds for food, which Gail didn’t have. What she did have was the time to help gather food. Each day, after her job as a secretary, Gail went around to the markets in her area until she found some willing to donate Thanksgiving dinners for the mothers and their children. Then, on Thanksgiving Day, she spent her time at the shelter cooking, decorating, serving, and having Thanksgiving dinner with these brave women who had left their abusive husbands to save themselves and their children. It was the best Thanksgiving she ever had! By choosing to share her love with people who needed her, she felt filled with love.

Gail had such a fulfilling experience that she found a small part-time job in addition to her regular job so that she could afford to buy presents for the children at the shelter for Christmas. She had such fun buying presents for the children and watching their joyous little faces as they opened them on Christmas day! Gail felt anything but alone and lonely.

Gary was in a similar situation to Gail. He was single, had been an only child to parents who were no longer alive, and had no close relatives. His janitorial business did not give him much opportunity to make friends. Gary had spent many lonely holidays feeling isolated and depressed, and decided a few years ago to do something about it.

Gary loved animals. As a child, his dog had been his main connection with love. After some research, Gary discovered that there was a wonderful animal shelter within a half-hour of his home – a shelter that loved and cared for animals and didn’t euthanize them. Gary started to volunteer one day a week on the weekends – cleaning, feeding, playing with puppies and kittens, helping to interview people who wanted to adopt a pet, and getting to know the other volunteers. He found that he really connected with the people who volunteered there. Many of them were loving people who were deeply devoted to caring for animals. As his friendships developed, he found he had a new sense of family centered around the shelter. Thanksgiving and Christmas were now sometimes spent with the other volunteers who did not have families, and sometimes with the families of some of the volunteers. Gary’s life had become full and fulfilling. The last I heard, he was dating a woman who also volunteered at the animal shelter.

No matter what your life situation is, you can always share your love with others. Instead of feeling alone and lonely this holiday season, open your heart to giving. There are many people and animals out there who would welcome your love.

Ways To Celebrate Independence Day

Eagles Flag Independence Day

No matter what your traditions are, it is important to celebrate Independence Day.  If you live in the US, or are living outside the country and yearning for a bit of home, there is never a better time to celebrate this historic day.  Yet, what are some of the best ways to do it?  Is this your first 4th of July here?  Are you looking for a new way to celebrate?  Or, are you heading out on your own firs the first time, looking to start a new tradition?

Before you plan your outdoor fun and start your traditions, you will want to reflect on the importance of our country’s independence and freedom.  So many of us take for granted that we live in a free and properous nation that is the greatest country in the world.  Reflect on the true bravery of the men and women that paid the price for our freedom.

There are some activities that just go hand in hand with Independence Day.  You just have to set up a picnic and be outdoors under the blazing July sun.  But, there is more to it than just that.  How about the people you share friendships and love?  What about where you are celebrating?  Don’t forget the food.  Let’s break it down.

Traditionally, your 4th of July celebration will happen out of doors.  But, this is not necessary if the weather is not right for it.  The most traditional of examples of a celebration is a BBQ in which people come to share in good foods and the beautiful weather.  It can happen at your home, at a local park, down by the beach or virtually any place that is suitable.  Here is a list of things to think about when planning a get together.

Location.  Find the right location; make arrangements with park officials if necessary.  Make sure there is enough seating, a place to get out of the sun and activities to keep everyone busy.

Food.  Plan for easy to make and eat foods.  Finger foods work best as people usually are not looking to sit down with a knife and china at this type of a celebration.  Look for a few options for everyone, including some that may not enjoy meats, something for those that are looking for a variety of beverages and a variety of foods.  Make it a potluck for an even easier celebration.

There must be something to do for all ages.  When it comes to the 4th of July, you do have to give everyone something to do. Whether that is a sport like volleyball or baseball, swimming, or just some fun crafts for kids, get them all busy and having a good time.

Celebrating the 4th of July should be fun and easy to do.  Do not over think it and keep it a light atmosphere and you all will have a great time.  Remember that you are free to celebrate your country’s independence, so take some time to reflect on our country’s struggles to become free and to maintain this freedom.
